Wow! Thanks Steve. I feel like I just got the "behind the curtain" DNA version! I'll have to read that a few times and let it sink in.
Being a pro guitarist (51 years), home studio guy who saw the advantages of DAW/Sonar (in 2001), I usually drag a folder to the place I want it and click. I am not that advanced computer-wise and have never tried those kinds of commands, let alone even heard of mklink, /d, /j switch, mkdir, or mklink /j, and the the mklink command line utility with the /d or /j switch!
I will read/search and educate myself on this, so I appreciate your response, even though I feel it's way over my head.
When you mention "if the sample path is "s:\DimPro\Multisamples", do you mean the path that is NOW or the one that I want to move them to?
Is a /j switch, then a command to redirect the address (pardon my language) , does it also require moving the samples (like I usually do)to the new location/address? Or is the mklink command line utility with the /d or /j switch
the "action" that moves them?
Michael
ps If I can wrap my mind around this method, it will be very handy, as I have some issues with my old Sample Tanks and the new ST3 stuff. LOL
