I'm really interested in the Behringer X Touch Controller when (and if) it comes out this year.

I've read many horror stories about Behringer products and their lack of quality control. I've also read that they have put in steps to improve it including a 3 year warranty.

I'd appreciate some feedback from forum members who have recently purchased their products as to whether or not Behringer has got their act together.

They have upped their game since the acquisition of Midas.  I am still hesitant to purchase anything from them, but I have to admit after working at a couple locations with their X32 systems, they seemed quite solid and well built.

I have dissected a few of their products before and found only good quality components, it was mainly the build quality that suffered, they are making a concerted effort to improve that with their new lineup.

Have an X32 that's built well...
Sound very good... has worked flawless

Picked up a Bugera TriRec... on the recommendation of a friend.
That thing was junk.  Fan was loud.  The Clean channel started distorting bad... and audio started cutting out.

They seem to have had issues with the quality of the circuit boards. All my issues with their products failing where circuit board related.
And then they announce the X air mixers way back in the fall and they are still vaporware. That makes me think they have first run problems.
I was thinking about purchasing one but now I will wait at least a year to see what the reviews say.
For me in order of dependability Yamaha, Mackie, Tascam and Roland. Everything I have still works.

I have a $5000.00 Roland FR-8x accordion that I purchased 2 years ago that has been very dependable along with my other Roland gear. On the FR-8x forum, people are having boards failing in the 8x and there are no replacement boards anywhere in the US...

The X-Air Rack (is it the 18-channel version) is in stock at Sweetwater.
Pretty cool little unit (from the specs).
If the preamps/processing are the same as the X32, it's a pretty good deal (especially for live use).

The "old" Behringer worked but if it needed repairs forget about it.  I bought a Behringer acoustic amp, from M/F outlet in Kansas City (Its closed now).  It had one bad pot in it.  I tried to get a new one from Behringer so it would match but wasn't able.  I wound up replacing it with a different pot and unfortunately a different knob.

The recent stuff seems to have improved, although I don't know if the parts situation is the same as it was 5 years ago.  Behringer used to be (or at least seemed to be) rverse engineered equipment of other companies.  I have a knock off of the Boss RV3 Reverb/Delay stomp box.  It is plastic but surprisingly works and sounds better than the real RV3.

This is the ones I was mentioning. They are just little racks like a snake head but have all the in/outs your need, The base model is only $299! That's a killer deal for a huge hunk of what's in an X32 for a small band. You can use just about anything to control it including a PC laptop which is a big draw for me not owning a ithing.

Dear All,
My name is John DiNicola and I am the Manager of Customer Experience Engagement for the BEHRINGER and BUGERA brands at MUSIC Group. I wanted to jump in here and comment on some of the statements / questions in this thread, and also offer my assistance to the community here.

In regards to the quality of our products, we encourage you to reach out to retailers such as Sweetwater, PSSL, & Thomann, who can testify that our products have some of the lowest failure rates in the industry. This is all the result of a massive commitment to manufacturing and testing procedures, including a $20 million investment after our acquisition of MIDAS / KLARK TEKNIK. This has allowed us to offer a 3-Year Warranty Program on all of our products since 2012, whether a X32 console or $25 guitar pedal.

We have also made major improvements in service over of the past few years. We now have our own CARE centers in Las Vegas, USA and Kidderminster, UK. From these facilities we can perform both in and out-of-warranty repairs, as well as supply parts for our authorized service centers. Our Tech Support teams work out of these facilities as well.

Regarding the X AIR, I’d also like to note that the X AIR XR18 is in fact shipping, as units have just started reaching customers in the US this week. To answer Jim’s question, all X AIR mixers feature the same preamps and conversion as the X32 Digital Mixer family. The processing is very similar as well, including all of the FX algorithms!

Please let me know if I can answer any other questions regarding our company or products. I’d also be happy to ask our CEO, Uli Behringer, to comment on the discussion as well.

Best Regards,
John DiNicola
