After inserting the new boz Bark of Dog Pro Channel module, Sonar Platinum hangs
I tried 3 or maybe 4 times, and had to terminate Sonar after a significant period of waiting.
No more details than this I'm affraid

Thanks
Andy

Hi Andy not having that problem here seems to work OK, any chance of a few more system details like driver mode and buffer sizes?

Hi Wookiee
Thanks again for a reply.
I reviewed my config and it had been reset so I increased my playback buffer size.
This did not solve the issue, playback was not in operation during the hang.
I did receive an exception (c0000005 / ACCESS_VIOLATION) during further attempts to add the module.
This prompted me that I had not performed a system restart since applying Braintree update.
Since restarting my machine, the module now functions perfectly.

Regards
Andy

I always perform a system restart after any major software install.  It may be overkill but I like giving the system the opportunity to do its thing! Especially now that Windows 8.1 startup is so quick, why not?

Yes I tend to do restarts too, it just lets everything get resettled.  Glad you resolved your issue Andy.

Hi,
Same Problem with ALL BOZ products (used as ProChannel modules). System restarts, trying the next day.. nothing. I am going to uninstall, and then reinstall starting with the purchased BOZ, and then reinstalling Bark of Dog last (I did it first, before).
Thanks,
Chuck,

ps- here is a copy of what I sent to Cakewalk via the feedback button -

Hi. I purchased all of the BOZ plugins, and whenever I try to use them (INCLUDING the new Bark of Dog) as a ProChannel module, Sonar does a HARD CRASH. I mean, it just dies! I seem to be able to use the comp/eq, eq, and comp in an FX Bin in the ProChannel, but even there the Compressor and Comp/Eq seem to crash Sonar here and there. I don't even get as far as pressing play or anything... I just add the fx and when it appears (sometimes messing up the GUI part of the ProChannel ,too) is when the program dies. Oh, and while the EQ (in the FX Bin) seems to be alright, using either the comp or the comp/eq causes ongoing stuttering (on/off, like a squarewave volume vibrato). I am using Win7Pro, Sonar Platinum, and have updated via Comand Center. Thanks!

Before you reinstall them re-download first.

Hi John,

Thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately,  (almost) no change whatsoever. I redownloaded the David Bendeths. This time I only installed the 32 bit VST2 dll, the 64bit VST3, and the 64bit ProChannel for the Eq & Comp each (last time I installed all VST, just omitting RTAS and AAX). I installed them and then installed the Bark of Dog through the Command Center. I then rebooted my PC, then opened Sonar. I then selected manual scan (in VST preferences) with rescan failed AND rescan existing plugins selected. I did the Reset (which auto scans as well, I noticed), and then - just for good measure - when it had finished I also Scanned as well. I then closed, rebooted, and started up Sonar. AND... weeeelll...

The EQ ProChannel plugin now seems to work (yay!). The Comp and the Bark of Dog still kill Sonar instantly . Also, in the FX bin - I didn't seem to see any instabilities, but it's only been a few minutes. The EQ and Comp/EQ both seem to work fine, but the Compressor plugin still causes sputter/stutter in the audio when on (although simply turning off/bypassing the effect makes it go away - ie - just sitting there in the FX bin while off doesn't affect the audio). I of course had to reopen Sonar multiple times so as to try each plugin because of the "crash of death"....

I don't know if it's worth mentioning, but prior to this re-do, I was having a problem with a lot of the icons not appearing in the dialog that pops up when selecting ProChannel modules. However, now that I have done all this and rescanned the heck out of VSTs, I notice that they are all there now. I'm not really worried about that, but since I noticed something about a registry conflict causing this (from another thread while I was searching for this topic), I thought I should throw it in as well.

Aside from all of this, the Sonar Braintree update at least seems to be otherwise working so far, so no problems with making music. And if Bark of Dog never worked I would be let down, but ya can't miss what you've never heard, eh? But I am extremely distressed and let down over the David Bendeth plugins, especial since I have shelled out $100 bucks... if I can't get them to work, is there any way to get a refund?

thanks for any and all help,
chuck

It works Chuck. Thank you for a really comprehensive reply. I don't know how you might go about fixing this except I would try one last time to completely uninstall Sonar Platinum with all its components and reinstall everything via C3.  Its a lot of work I know but with the issues you are having I think it may need to be done. Unless you have a good reason for installing 32 bit plugins I would avoid doing so.

Sorry about this.

Hi Chuck

I installed BOZ (Dog & David Bendeth) and Braintree on main and backup system and have experienced no issues, even when testing with heavily loaded projects, adding BOZ to both ProChannel and FX ... just to let you know it will work once you figure out what causes it :-)

By default I installed all versions of the plug-in (I just didn't care) because Sonar now does a good job of selecting 64 bit instead of 32 bit ... anyway, as regards crashes and odd behaviour the prime suspect is still a 32 bit component - pls double check if BOZ (or any other plug-in used) is 32 bit. One of the quickest ways of doing this is looking in the task manager and see whether there is BitBridge or auxhost (in case you are using jBridge) showing in the task manager just before the crash.
