  • Anyone using Lemur to control Sonar? [SOLVED WORKING PERFECTLY!]

Hi Everyone.
Searching the forum as best I could I see this question has been asked in the past without much response,  but  since the release of Lemur for Android I thought others may have taken it up.  Is anyone using either Lemur app as a control surface for Sonar? If so,  are you using midi over WiFi or OSC?  Is there any latency over WiFi?  I  would love to hear your experiences.

EDIT: I have since purchased Lemur and it is brilliant.  See post below.

Thanks!

you didn't mention "successfully"...

I've been wrestling with Lemur for a while now - I've been more focused on using it with Kontakt, but I have played around with Sonar as well. Thus far I'd have to say both have been challenging. If I find the magic for Sonar I will certainly post it here!

Hey Bill.  Thanks very much for the response.

Since posting I actually jumped in and bought Lemur.  I don't know if you have found it,  but is there is a Sonar template in the user Library.  I had it downloaded and up and running in 20mins, and it is awesome. Complete control of Sonar!
Below is a link to the template.  I am running a galaxy tab 10.5,  so I had to resize it slightly in Lemur editor to get full screen. I think the original resolution is for an ipad.  There is also a pdf in the Sonar template download with excellent set up instructions. I think one of the secrets is to use loopbe30 virtual midi,  which by chance I already had on my system, so I probably saved myself some time there.
Let me know how you go with Kontakt as well.  I can't stop smiling - I must have tried every remote app on earth with Sonar prior to finding this:)

Lemur is probably the most versatile midi/sysex/osc controller ever made. It's a shame it's so complicated as a result, but loading templates isn't too hard and there's a huge library already.

I can't believe I had never come across it before Sanderxpander!  I am pretty thrilled with it and very glad there was a template for Sonar amongst the 300 Ableton templates:) .  The Lemur editor also seems very good but I wouldn't have liked to have to start from scratch.

Well it used to be a hardware box that was pretty expensive. It's only been on iPad for a few years I think and even less on Android. As an app it's still not cheap and kind of an investment to learn. But if you need versatility it trumps anything I can think of. There's a whole bunch of creative fx possible too using the physics engine. Couple it with something like Reaktor and the possibilities are endless.

Hey Bill.  Thanks very much for the response.

No, thank you! I picked Lemur up a while back, and there was no Sonar template, but at the time I was more interested in using if for Kontakt. Had not searched their library for Sonar support - and now I don't have to<G>! Much appreciated! (I also have LoopBe, so I'm all set!)

These are not the controller parameters you are looking for:

Yes -  I am looking forward to EXPLORING.  It is certainly quite a bit dearer than other apps,  but I am pretty happy with the return:)

Great Bill!   I imagine it would be a daunting task starting from scratch without a template. Loopbe30 is very handy.  I have been using it to run DMXIS programs and to sync Traktor to Ableton live for a while now.  A great little program that just works. I haven't quite used all 30 midi connections yet though:)
