There is a golden rule on marketing:
The bigger the announcements, the bigger the customers disappointment.

Maybe not very clever to give the customers a hope of something great and big.

You're forgetting that part of it was already announced today. And no one who's aware of it seems disappointed at all

... This seems too good to be true. I logged in, hit BUY NOW, and it's telling me I can get lifetime updates for only $99? How is that even remotely feasible for Cakewalk from an economic standpoint? Does this include only bug fixes, etc.? Or does it include everything I'm currently getting with my yearly membership fee?

Interesting, I paid $199 for Platinum.

My lifetime price seems to be $199 as well. Hmm. It's certainly a tempting proposition even at that price, unless the rest of the announcement on June 1 is that there will be no more updates... but it would be kind of weird if some were paying half that...

Got $199 as well following the other guys link. Wonder what the timeline is that decides the pricing? Not complaining (unless Sonar goes out next year) but more curious since another guy I know said his was $99. :)

I think the $99 is for what's called "pay one time", which is the annual membership.

At this point I'm not complaining at all. Rare, I know...

It seems to all depend on your current Sonar version and if you paid for your most recent rolling update and may be a few other factors. (time as customer?) I have Platinum and it was 99.00 and I am good to go and very happy.

I didn't get the email, but the same thing happened to me when I tried the link.  Seems odd that his was $99.

Is the newsletter signup working now?

Been a Cakewalk user since it was on floppies, signed up for the newsletter on numerous occasions -
But still don't receive them...

Me neither.....   I even logged a support request about this.  Have not heard back....   I have yet to receive a newsletter even after opting in a few times.

Fixed this...
