I didn't get an email with a link, just the generic pre-announcement one... I just followed the link in the post above. But I'm logged into the store site, and have updated at top tier to every version since Sonar 5, including renewing my Platinum subscription a few months ago... so...  if it's the direct link from the email that makes the difference, I'd be happy to get one! 
 
the only difference I can think of is that I bought my Platinum renewal from a third party (JRR shop)... could this be the defining factor?

My newsletter sub shows active but I have not received the email above. I did get the AAS sale stuff today.

I just bought the lifetime update for Splat. $99 and now I'm good until 2037!? How could I say no?! Very pleased with this as I've been with Cakewalk since 2004. Now I don't even have to think about my DAW membership. I'll just continue to look forward to the frequent updates to this fantastic program. I can't wait to hear what else is in store on June 1st. :)

Thanks! I do indeed! This does seem to fall fairly squarely in the no-brainer department... 

I'll jump on the speculation train: 

Steinberg just announced their brand new scoring software, Dorico. This is supposed to set the new standard for software notation programs. If there's one thing that Sonar users have been vocal about requesting, it's improvement to the staff view. Just look at the massive thread about it on these forums! 

It would be awesome if Cakewalk somehow partnered with Steinberg to include native support for Dorico within Sonar. I don't know how feasible or likely this is, but it's fun to think about at least.
