I don't understand the financial benefit to offer me a $99 lifetime updates deal when I've been paying $50/month for the past year.  Something doesn't add up.  I am skeptical into buying this right now.   

The email says:

Limited-time Offer: Lifetime Updates will be available only through August 31st, 2016. Act now to secure your Lifetime Updates.
 
I guess I can wait until after the big June 1st announcements and then make a decision, but this is perplexing to me why they offer this!

Yes, you should wait till June 1st. The email we sent to customers today were for those that upgraded to Platinum last year and then did the renewal this year. They already paid this year so we felt we needed to send them a more personal email ahead of time to explain it. We also asked them not to share the link as it might cause confusion for others who had not renewed or even upgraded to SONAR Platinum yet :)

I mean we knew the word was going to get out. In your case though, better to wait until June 1st. 

I'm very excited by this. I haven't seen anything from Cakewalk yet in my inbox, but i just signed up for SPLAT in December... maybe i need to wait to June 1. Here's to hopin'! 

Hey Andrew, I never received a lifetime renewal email as well but I did get the June 1 announcement.

The June 1st email went to spam, which Cakewalk emails never do. Started off with the Plat membership, but started a new one last September. Taps toe until June 1st...

hmmm... i doubt they would make SUCH a huge deal over those features....   we have had very big improvements already in the past 18 months without a warning like this.   I reckon it is something bigger...
