Having no inside info I would say that there will be more news than just how you pay for it and what you get in the new model.

I got the "Big Announcement" email in my spam folder, but the only links I see are for the renewal of Platinum and not any lifetime that i could see.

I think the best course of action is to wait and see what the full June 1st announcement is. The lifetime updates offer is available until August so waiting to see EXACTLY what is going on before jumping on the bandwagon is a wise choice, IMHO. After all, you gain or lose absolutely nothing by upgrading today vs June 1 or even late August.

Actually, you could possibly lose something if you upgraded to lifetime (assuming your membership was active until the end of the year) and they release the hover car as a paid for enhancement in July or August.
 
I'm not sure CW would do that but if we're going to speculate, why not go BIG or go HOME?

Well, I'm paid up until March of 2017...so it would seem I could wait until then and pay $199 or I can pay now for $99.
I guess I just need to know what the other 2 "big" things are and how much they cost. They will probably be available for a temporary intro price too. If they are $49.99 each until August and then $99.99 each... Maybe I would rather buy those and wait on the lifetime thingy. I think it's probably best to wait for June 1st.

I have never received any cakewalk email even though I have tried to sign up several times.  I signed up once again using the June 1st announcement link.
 
I am also one of those that renewed using a third party "upgrade" price.
 
 

Always excited to hear big new!! Please make the platform more stable like 8.5 was...PLEASE!
