However only good things have happened since the Gibson takeover so I'm not worried.  It feels like a forward looking company union in ever way, or at least that's how it seems to the outside world.

It's no secret Cakewalk was not in good shape when Gibson took over. Gibson is committed to Cakewalk for many reasons, but it doesn't hurt that Henry Juszkiewicz is a long-time user of Cakewalk software. Few CEOs have that deep an understanding of a product and company being acquired, and he really wants Cakewalk to thrive.

Great I'm know we're all looking forward to hearing the plans for getting new money in to the company

I received my email and following the link says lifetime membership will cost £420 GBP.
Is this correct?

I think yours should probably be the same as mine, £88.44 incl VAT, with the £420 crossed out.

I did the same John, but my price only went down to £177.78 incl VAT.

What gives here Cake, I'm bang up to date with Splat so why am I expected to pony up twice as much as these guys?

Steve,

1. did you get the offer email, (not the announcement email)?
2. If yes, did you go to the link whilst logged in?
3. If yes, did you click BUY to see the cart page?

If you did not get the offer email I suggest
1. Go to the announcement page (link in the OP)
2. Re-up for the newsletter
3. Wait at least 4 hours (Cake business hours)
4. If you don't get it, come back here and tell Joey or Andrew. They should be able to sort it out.

That's what I did.

You did not get your hover craft delivered by a drone?

That's odd.

Nothing yet!   What are you talking about ?

Judging by your current Avatar , You paid for one SONAR lifetime membership and you still have 8 more SONAR Lifetimes on tap

As usual I'm confused. I just spent $200 on my Platinum renewal in Feb. and now I have to pay another $200??

It seems that Cakewalk needs to generate a lump of cash on short notice. No emails here, just a sense of "WTF NOW". How will the rules change next month?

This takes me back to X1 and then X1 Producer and then X1 Producer plus. Just continuous change that feels like you guys just make it up as you go along. If you are going to change the rules just get on with it. Don't tease, don't release little bits of the big picture.

The last year has been great but I'm getting tired of Cakewalk showing up with their hands out asking if I've any change to spare.

Perhaps I'll get the memo one day and understand what everyone is so happy about. Right now, not so much.

This is exactly what I don't get.  The amount of money it seems that had to be shelled out to get to this point seems awfully steep.

Logic - a full DAW that I think most would put on the Platinum scale in terms of the package = $200
Fruity Loops = lifetime updates for FREE

Curious what the announcement will be, but a bit surprised by those happy to shell out so much money with so little detail, and don't get me wrong, there isn't another DAW I'd prefer to use.  But this lifetime updates announcement, the documentation looks like a Fruity Loops kind of model, but for a lot more money.

1. But the Mac hardware cost more than makes it a bigger investment for the first time DAW user
2. I believe that this is what the SPlat users (only) offer is. That is confirmed in my offer email.
3. If you are in the right category (upgraded to Plat in 2015 and upgraded/renewed to Plat in 2016) you should eventually get the offer email for $99. That, IMO is not "so much money for so little detail" since the offer email spelled out the details.

There's quite a difference and I'd hate to be disappointed
