Thanks Andrew and all the Bakers!  You all have worked wonderfully and tirelessly to explain, to help get emails out correctly, and to clarify.  Really, you guys are great!

It would be sad to potentially see things like Drum Replacer or Vocal Sync no longer considered to be core development, especially since they're integrated directly into SONAR

Ummmmmm. Drum replacer and vocal sync are stand alone installers. They "integrate" into SONAR just like Melodyne (i.e. via ARA IIRC).

Late to the party but I applaud Cake's bold decision to break the mold and try something different that I think should benefit both the customer and the company which seems like intent of this latest move.

I hesitate to add my name to your long list Joey, but I upgraded in February, subscribed to the newsletter and have the announcement e-mail but no e-mail regarding the lifetime membership fee, which I will pay as soon as that e-mail arrives.

Thanks to everyone at Cakewalk for all their hard work.

no email here.. i can go to the My Account page and see my history and says i'm subscribed, but never have gotten emails. when i go to the Store to check out the offer it tells me to log in for specifics, but there is no place to log in on the page. i'm guessing others are having the same problem?

You should be good now. Check your spam/junk folder too, just in case.

I was wondering, is 'lifetime' pricing based on the age of the purchaser?
Will we need to complete a medical to receive our price?

Yes to qualify you have to prove you don't have any terminal illness :)

I guess that is a typo, it should be spelled as "do have a terminal illness". Since Cakewalk license is not transferable, each dead lifetime customers is one not paying but demanding user less

Sorry if my humor it too black, but with "lifetime" and Cakewalk license, it can be interpreted as a user lifetime, not the product lifetime...

Well, I'm not so enthused about any annoucements concerning Cakewalk, for several days my Upgrade price was 99 dollars from Sonar Artist to Sonar Pro, I scrapped together the money to buy it, honestly, borrowed it from someone and went to purchase it and BOOM : New price 149 dollars instead of 99 dollars, I'm not even going to bother checking to see if the 149 upgrade to TH3 FULL is still available.

Just felt like the wind just got taken out of my sails. Oh well, at least I can give back the money I borrow and not owe anything........

Sorry to sound like a downer, but just feeling a little let down, I wish that Cakewalk/Gibson/Tascam or whatever it will be called would do us all ONE BIG FAVOR, and that is when sending offers on discount prices for items in the store TO AT LEAST GIVE A "MUST BE PURCHASED BY DATE".

Yeah, that's what I was driving at. Features that integrate directly with SONAR, not products that can be purchased separately and used in other DAWs, like the CA-2A VST, Z3ta, etc. I suppose they're more inline with the Pro Channel add-ons...purchased separately but still only usable within SONAR.

My point was that since these were included as part of the rolling updates with our existing subscription model, it would be a bummer if similar features like this were no longer going to be wrapped into the regular updates and would instead be offered as a separate purchase. Again, I do understand what Noel was getting at when he said that some features that required a ton of development time may be available separately and not just automatically wrapped into the updates. My point is that I'm sure both of these features (and many more that were included in our rolling updates) took a lot of effort on their part and we got them as part of our membership package, and that we may no longer see that same type of inclusion moving forward. But hey, if the price is right, I'm not opposed to buying another plugin/feature/etc. because as my checking account shows, I have no problem doing that already. :)

It is reassuring to see Noel say that 95% of what we received over the past 18 months would be considered core development, though. If changes are in order, it doesn't look like they'll stray too far from the norm in regards to included goodies.

That is why this lifetime member offer is is optional.

You can pay $149 (or $99 depending on a deal to be had) a year to guarantee modules like that are yours or go lifetime and decide when something is available that you need or want.

Seems like a simple set of options is available.
