SONAR for Mac OS?

Based on what Cakewalk has said about this in the past I kinda doubt it, but who knows. That's been a pretty common speculation in this thread.

Yeah, I don't understand why though...   I'm not aware of any changes in DAW-dom or in AppleLand that would suddenly give CW a valid business case for re-creating SONAR from scratch.

PS...  Would it be big news though?   Uh, yup.

However it would be zero good news for existing SONAR users because we aren't all going to go out and buy expensive Macs just to get the exact same functionality that we can get for much cheaper on a PC. And it was specifically said to affect all current SONAR users. So that makes a Mac version unlikely to be the big announcement, unless it is that plus something else specific for existing SONAR users.

Could it be some very tight integration between SONAR and iPad, or something along those lines? I didn't look into this, but is there already a way you can control SONAR from iPad? I guess you can using a generic MIDI app as a MIDI controller, but it would be interesting if there was a SONAR specific app for iPad. CW already has Z3TA+ and ScratchPad for iPad.

My guess is that because Cakewalk stated that the upcoming news would affect existing and potential new users, people assumed that meant they could be widening the net to try to get Apple users onboard. But as has been discussed, there are already a handful of go-to DAWs on the Mac platform and it seems unlikely that Pro Tools/Logic users would jump ship if SONAR was made available to them. While there would certainly be some extra business on that front, it seems unlikely there'd be enough potential to justify the development resources it would take to get SONAR on Mac OS.

But yes, if that were indeed what they have planned, SONAR on Mac would absolutely be big news!

THE SUSPENCE HAS KILLED MY CREATIVITY,I WANT FREE UPDATE FOR LIFE AND A FREE COFFEE MUG!!!!!!

I'm not nearly as interested in the update as I am in getting Noel's coffee mug.

No...not one like it.  I want HIS!

...though I dare say selling Tom Murphy aged reissues could prove to be a significant profit center.

(You would think that Gibson would've been all over that already.)

What I mean is, something like this, but very tightly integrated with SONAR.

Something for i-Pad and Android could be useful (I only have the latter).    But more important, I think that Dan is on the right track - huge SONAR coffee mugs for everyone!!!!

Surface and/or Android pad make more sense than iPad support, IMHO.  SONAR is Win only, so most of us don't do iPads.  I realize many people may be live sound engineers, and iPads had the early lead in that arena, but with the Behringer X32 and others adding Surface support the options are wider now.  I have no interest in paying 3X the cost of an Android pad in order to get an Apple product that is a stripped-down device anyway.  At least the surface can work as a full-function PC in addition to being a very good tablet.

And for the person who just wants the remote control function and doesn't really care about architectures per se, you can't beat the value of the Android pads.  Under 100 bucks for a 10" pad.
