Hi all,
this will be easy (I hope).
Some of you will know that terribly cheesy sound of those very first electronic drum machines which came out early seventies (or so), a reference track to listen to the sound might well be Bob Marley's "Rainbow Country": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqAdW0lt6W8
Now is such an instrument to be found as a preset in one of the drum machines coming with Sonar?
I've been trying to find such a thing in SI Drum Kit, and Session Drummer, and in the rhythm presets of TTS-1. I am quite sure though that Sonar has this sound somewhere. I need it in a current project as preparation for a nasty surprise.
Thankxsssss

Today we celebrate our 8th Birthday, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting us over the years!
We strongly believe in giving something back to our followers, and so today we are excited to announce Linndrum Tape, a totally FREE sample collection delivering 215 drum samples from the iconic LinnDrum LM-2 drum machine, each recorded to 1/2" analogue tape via an Ampex ATR-102 vintage tape machine at multiple saturation levels...

You can use a sample player, but it isn't necessary. There are many things you can do with samples. Tell us your version of Sonar and what your instrument preference is and let's see what we can figure out.

Seems this sound pack must first be processed in a sample editor such as Creative's "Vienna" to make an .sf2-file of it, otherwise this will not work. I downloaded it, however, I wasn't prepared to go through this lengthy procedure right now. Or do you have an idea of how to get the SI Drum Kit, or Session Drummer, to grab those sounds directly?
I notice of course the wealth of the .rar-file, 4 different versions of closed hihats (for example) suggest 4 different drum sets. So that would mean to sort the sounds to at least 4 different .sf2 sample banks. Sorry, but until I'll be finished with that, my interest in the music project I started will have vanished. It's right, I was looking for an instrument, I did not intend to build one. ;-)

Thankx,
Browsing through their sounds I found I am looking for a Roland TR-78, which should actually have come with the abundant wealth of sounds in my Sonar Professional (64bit, on a Win 10 machine).

Thankx, Telecharge,
if I do not locate the Roland TR-78 in my Sonar Prof., then I'll consider to invest there ;-).
