Microsoft has stopped 'Patch Tuesday' in October, in favour of a monthly update:

The question is still valid - are you hiding tracks when you have a locked screenset?

hmmmm Many of us have reported that last tuesday all of a sudden we stopped getting the runtime errors without us doing anything. I wonder if MS does some secret forced updates to all of our computers on tuesday once a month along with these other updates?

That's really off-topic as this thread is about Windows 10 updates.  The article addresses the change to the update model for Win 7 & 8.1.  New patches are still rolled out on the second Tuesday of each month, using monthly rollups.  Microsoft has decided to treat Win 7 & 8.1 more like Win 10 in this regard ...

If you read that article there is a link directly to the Microsoft announcement:

I have issues that supports this. I lost use of the touch pad on my laptop around then. Am not able to get it back. This happened sometime after this last summer as well. Got corrected at a later date / Win update.
All the best.

I recall that Microsoft had the ability to update the Windows Updater in past versions of Windows, without any user intervention.  I wonder what they may be able to do in the new, improved Windows 10, with all that telemetry and stuff?

i lost my touchpad after going from 8.1 --> 10, and then couldn't get "disabled" to stick (as i use a mouse), and like you this got foxed at some point via an update... i do think that all windows updates are visible via cp though, i don't think they're backdooring us with stuff
