Lance said it's random.
"The problem is related to a change in the timing for thread initialization on Windows, which leads to intermittent crashing..."

Incidentally, I still have my Windows 98 PC. It starts in 3 seconds and shuts down instantaneously.
Sometimes we forget how things were.

What I have found is that today Tue 13th Dec. I updated windows on my laptop and my desktop. Windows 10 with the Anniversary update both 64 bits and both Pro. KB3206632 was the update. CA2A was not loading before this update. Now it is and it is working as expected. I don't have any CW instruments on the laptop. On the desktop the plugin manager and vst scanner crashed when scanning Z3ta 2.

I believe this has put me out of business. Hardly anything works. I can't even record a vocal track.

For me, when I initially start SONAR, it fails and closes the program. Then, I restart SONAR and all is well.

FWIW, I have not had any of the issues that everyone else is experiencing.
I have just had two MS updates within the last seven days.
The only difference that I see is being that I run Process Lasso (to kill Cortana) in the tray at all times.
Process Lasso is a process monitor/manager.

I'm in the middle of an album with much precision EQ notching in place. I cannot work on it anymore without drastic action..... so far a brand new PC and clean installs, deleting all instances of LP-EQ (bye bye precious notching) and transferring back to the studio DAW.
Very helpful and concerned helpdesk but its really thrown my mojo.
Roll on the fix.
