I've been using the full Melodyne Studio for many years but decided to give the SONAR version a spin.

First mistake. As I said to Maurice (errrm space_cowboy) get the latest and uninstall the SONAR Essential version.

ARA Integration of the full product is very sweet.

Bit I have been using the separate version  of Melodyne for ages and using the bundled one with Sonar befuddles me.  I cannot see it.  I also cannot seem to quantize well.

Maurice,

Melodyne Essential is soooooo limited to be of no real use beyond some basic pitch correction, AFAIC.

+1
This ^^^ is very good advise.

I had Essential all this time and it has no quantize or vibrato tools.
I got the email for the sale of the full version for $399
I looked at videos about the full version, and said to myself:
"What the hell was I thinking!  Oh yeah...the price."
I pulled the trigger on the full version (Studio) and that was all she wrote.
See my thread in the "Software" section for a list of those videos and some more info.

Thanks for all the info, everyone.

You've convinced me that the best solution is to upgrade Studio from V3 to V4. That'll get me all the features I'm spoiled for with the convenience of SONAR integration.

I just hate repurchasing the same stuff over and over and this'll be my fourth Melodyne upgrade. Plus I hardly ever use pitch correction these days anyway, preferring multiple takes until it's right over editing.

Sigh. Still, it's only a hundred bucks. Thanks again.

The latest update to Melodyne  Essentials removed the Quantize and the Pitch Correction buttons that were in the upper left corner of the screen.

Does anyone know how to get them back there?

I can only find them now listed under, EDIT > Quantize Macros >  Pitch Correction and Quantize Time.

This is nice.

I paid 99 bucks for the V3 -> V4 Studio upgrade from Sweetwater.

Now I'm struggling with the update. I downloaded the zip file, unpacked it and ran the setup. When I go to \program files\celemony\melodyne 4, though, the executable there (melodyne.exe) is Essential, not Studio. I downloaded it again, thinking maybe I'd gotten the wrong file, but it was the same file the second time.

In my Celemony account, it shows "Melodyne 4 Studio", the serial number I got from Sweetwater, and today's date as the registration date.

Next step is to uninstall Essential...

I would have uninstalled essential first then installed studio / then re run the plug in manager.

Sheesh, what a hassle! After multiple downloads, uninstalls and re-installs, Essential kept coming up, not Studio. Even though the website insisted that Studio had already been activated on my computer.

The trick: it's not enough to uninstall Melodyne - you have to go to the Celemony website and de-activate it, then re-activate it. Whew.
