So, I'm running Sonar Steam Edition. At first everything was multidocked, no matter what.

Then I opened an older project and you could make the PRV float. Then again, opening console view was docked and no options to make it float. In the pic you see there's no console icon in the corner. Just like when starting a new project, there's no icon on PRV window like th "keyboard" icon in the pic.

It's really frustrating when everything is forced in the multidock. No matter if I select undock or whatever.

Here's your best bet,
Set up a screenset exactly the way you want it and then lock it.
You can even set up multiple screensets and lock all of them if you wish.

If a lot of your projects use the same tracks/plug ins then you can set up a project template using your custom made screensets. This feature is one of the best in Sonar in my opinion. it allows fast start ups and removes long set up times.

- To get back your floating views go to Views/Select a view.
- To get back Piano roll view go to any midi track and right click/Views/PRV.
- If the view is floating, click the top of that windows icon and choose Dock in multidock
- You can drag a window in to an dock (It turns blue in color)

Thanks for your reply!

Yeah, I do use my own project templates.

Now that if I start a blank project, the PRV is floating but still, can't make the Console View to float.

Here's the pics

Please do not attempt to directly post an image on the forum. when you have a sufficient post count to add links, use an image service, for example imgur.com. Then add a link to the image in your posts

Ok. They were dropbox links, not posted as images, though.

The data I removed were not urls. It was image data.

just grab the Console view tab (lower left corner) by clicking and dragging it to where you want.

Update: I managed to open an older project and the PRV was floating already and there was the PRV icon on top left corner that lets you choose "float". So I was happy. 'Til it was multidocked again and the PRV icon was gone.

When it was working I did a new template but suddenly it all got screwed up again. No idea what's happening.

I really hate the multidocking system.

I did too, until I got off my but and learned more about it. Now I think it's better than sliced bread. But that's me. I had to get past some differences in my understanding, between Windows screen handling and Multidock handling. Different animals. 😉
