Maybe they should move to Cambridge in the now empty Cakewalk office location..

What about Magix? They bought the Sony stuff: Vegas, Sound Forge, etc.

Magix has a hundred programs doing more or less the same thing.
Maybe Cyberlink was another option...
It would be nice if a company like this bought the Cake stuff, but it looks like Gibson is not interested in selling anything.

With regards to everyone who paid for lifetime updates, is there any grounds for a class action lawsuit against Gibson?

My Concern as well, I did pay into it in "goodfaith" which was not shown to be the case. hope that they will at the very least reimburse.

I hear what you're saying....But it's about a zero chance of that happening. 😊 I'm a fellow SPLAT lifetime User..

Has anybody had any luck contacting Cakewalk in regards to refunds? I bought Professional back in May and I'm somewhat salty that the year of updates turned out to be 6 months.

I just have one question...

In its current state, is Sonar Platinum stable? I mean really stable... like: lifetime stable.
No show-stopper bugs?
Because I can live with these circumstances if it's really stable.

You see, I've been away a while and I'm just now getting back into using Sonar. I'd hate to think I'm too late and have to start shelling out money again from scratch.
From the looks (and sounds) of this situation, this could happen to any DAW product, so who could I possibly trust with my money the second time around?
And Gibson's excuse for all this smacks of what's wrong with just about everything these days: stockholders trump customers. That's just not right.

It's stable as far as I'm concerned, I have no problems. Cakewalk have been polishing it beautifully in the last couple of years.  If there's no sale or MBO and the product is dead, I'll certainly stick with it as long as I can. I've been playing around with Studio One and Cubase and they can't hold a candle to Sonar.

Good to know. Thank you.

Not sure if this has already been discussed but Overloud are offering to set their plugs as included in sonar free with a revised serial number. Just applied for mine
