200 bucks for one year of updates seems fair to me

So the $200 lifetime SCAM was just business as usual? Uh, no, sorry. They knew, they had to.

Anyone that bought the lifetime license has a legitimate gripe. I'm one of those people. However, I liken this to a starving individual stealing to live. It's wrong to steal, but I still understand why they did it.

Not sure if this has already been discussed but Overloud are offering to set their plugs as included in sonar free with a revised serial number. Just applied for mine

I received my serial numbers yesterday. Way to go Overloud!

Remember this when local computer stores and other companies offer lifetime warranties.  Those warranties generally are for the lifetime of the company, not your life.

Comments like this confuse me. Unless I missed something, you have lifetime updates, so this comment means you can determine "fair" for everyone else?

Lifetime updates took the people mostly likely to cough up money out of the revenue stream, then jacked up costs for others pricing SONAR out of the DAW arena. Gibson does this with their own products so should not surprise anyone. $200 per year is on the extreme end for DAW maintenance. The updates in the final year were a scant % of the Platinum package (if bought brand new) yet is 50% of the price? If a company intends to fleece loyal customers, they need to learn "micro-transaction" first, and I have no doubt that Gibson hasn't.

Anyone know how to get serial numbers for Dimension Pro. They're are not available on my product page anymore

That's not good.
Before all this trouble happened I remember taking screen shots of all my serial number etc.
Just a precaution at the time.
Do you have an way to trace your downloads or emails to find them?
Good luck.

He didn't say it was fair for everyone, just that it seemed fair to him. Others may disagree. If Sonar hadn't gone under, it would have been a great deal, the best in fact anywhere. People bought into it with that hope, if not that expectation. They lost the gamble, however. but it's up to them to decide whether it was worth it or not. The fact that Sonar is such a great piece of software, which apparently was at the pinnacle of its development, no doubt is a big factor in their estimation of whether the gamble was worth taking. At the time, it did seem a no-brainer. Others thought they saw the writing on the wall. Who knows who was right.
