Cubase Is the Program.

All the other do not support SYS EX

You sure about that?
I thought Reaper and Studio one did.

All sequencers / DAWs prior to VSTi era, have, in one way or another, support for SysEx. Some just play it, others record it and there are even some that allow you to create and edit SysEx (Sonar in particular can handle several banks of SysEx messages that can be edited and saved within the file and sent to all external MIDI devices when the file is opened. That always turned out to be a time saver for me).
Cubase, Sonar, Samplitude, being of those times, I know they support SysEx. There may be more modern ones that also support it.
Although it is a fact that with the arrival of VSTi and its widespread use nowdays has made that the SysEx messages less and less required, unless you have a good number of external MIDI hardware to control, in which case, SysEx is king.

I only read this announcement now, on Christmas Eve 2017 and it feels like all saints day when you remember your deceased rather than Christmas.
I only hope some decent company will buy the rights to the software and the development will continue.
All the best to you, wonderful people of late Cakewalk.

I don't think Gibson even had the decency to send an email out to all it's customers. The last email I received from them was on Thursday, November 2, 2017 with Subject: "Cakewalk Store now accepts EUR, GBP, JPY". I guess they wanted to rip off everyone globally. Then 2 weeks and one day later they announce the death of Cakewalk. Something just doesn't seem right about that timeline.

I was sent an email from Gibson to renew membership and four days later they stop production.
I was on a website and seen Gibson stop productions on sonar so I went to
cakewalk website and its true.

If every scatters to different DAWS, this will diminish the possibility of Sonar influences in the various DAWs.
If everyone went to Cubase, perhaps there could be some influence on that program.

Just a thought.

It's a real bummer this has happened and it is easy to slam Gibson. But, keep in my mind, more than likely, without Gibson, we may have lost Sonar at the time Roland offloaded it. That is not to condone Gibson's silence on what happens next or how they have gone about dismantling Cakewalk. It's just that we have had some wonderful upgrades since Gibson took the reigns.

Oh good grief!

I'm a weekend warrior that has used Home Studio XL6 - Sonar X3. I am deeply saddened to hear this horrible news.  Especially at this time of year. Not cool.

HS6 was my first foray into home recording and it's been awesome.  Once I got the basics down, I've been able to record some of my ideas over the years. Then and now and it's been a source of therapy. I'm happy CW was a part of that.

To Noel and the other developers... Great job and thank you for working on such a nice, clean product! As others have already expressed: Best wishes to you and your families!

I will definitely keep checking in for any further announcements.

In closing, all I have to say is:

I knew there was a reason why I always preferred Fender guitars over Gibson.

S1 definitely not which is a huge omission. You literally can not have simple sysex patch loading being sent to all your  HW synths when you load a song. Either there might be a VSTI work around that can do it, say midiquest for example, or you'd need like a free standalone sysex program to set up your synths for each and every song.

When i load a pro tools project, everything is set instantly, same with cubase, logic, etc.

I can NOT speak for reaper in this regard..

Edit.. i just did a quick search, it seems reaper can at minimum send sysex messages :)
There's no dedicated editor though apparently, like we have with our event lists in the few other DAWS I mentioned.

Yes, this is all sad.  But sadly, its just another real life example of what matters most to many and certainly to business owners.....  profitability.   Customer loyalty, et al....   ONLY matters if it relates to profitability.

I jumped in the Sonar/Cakewalk game around version 6 (actually started with Home Studio).  I loved the software and interface and enthusiastically upgraded and subscribed every time.    To many, and certainly to me, you could sense that there was trouble in baker paradise.  The lifetime subscription model/opportunity just made no business sense.   Yet, like playing the lottery, I took the chance that it was legit and jumped on board, going against my inner voice that said "this is a stupid business move".

Funny thing is, just after I took the lifetime subscription plunge, I also finally made the move to go all in on Cubase.  What swung my decision was midi editing and how much better it was perceived that Cubase was vs Sonar.  I've literally spent the past year learning Cubase (to me, a pretty strong learning curve).  Obviously, now I'm glad that I did.  It hasn't always been fun, but now I'm set to move forward.   I'll still fire up Sonar from time to time, especially with so many projects created there.   But I've moved on.

For what its worth....I'm always in the market for a new guitar.....you better know that Gibson won't be getting any more of my cash :-)
