The more time Cake gets in Gibson's hands, the faster it will be forgotten by ordinary users. It's no use for Cake to keep fans. Although ordinary users should not even be aware of this information about the end of the company. Cake must be sold as soon as possible. We as users have to make some sort of petition to rid Cakewalk of this situation. That's urgent, maybe a petition will help, we just want to get Cakewalk out of Gibson's clutches.

I wonder what will be with the next subscriptions fees? I decided to upgrade from X3 to Platinum last year, several days ago paid the 11th payment and expected that next month I become an owner of the Platinum version... But now I noticed that the cakewalk shop is down so does it mean that the 12th payment will not be charged? And finnally the ownership after 12 months of subscription is cancelled in such situation?

SONAR can do Projects with up to 400 GB of tapes and vinyl. Recordlength up to 80 hours.
And then splitting 80 hours of tapes into thousends of clips.

SONAR has a very fast handling to split thousends of clips and zoom them in and out with the mousewheel. Also it's very easy to apply the effects to the clips and mark them as "done".
I checked other DAWs the last years, they do this very slower and uncomfortable.
At the moment I try to check Studio One. But at the moment I don't see the possibility to render an effect to its own clip. Even scrolling through hours of audio is not so comfortable. Even zooming in Studio One is not so good, because you can not change the zoom-factor.

The next point is: We need to change 14 computers.

And even if I turn of internet SONAR needs to re-authorize after dynamik changing the IP-Adress in the network.

Have you looked at WaveLab? There's a trial version available.

I own Wavelab Pro and Adobe Edition. Both are great editors, but their workflow is a lot slower then SONAR.
We know companies that make the same work. And they ask me how we can work so fast - because they work with ProTools, Samplitude, WaveLabe or Adobe.

At the moment I check Studio One. It has a great MacroEditor and a very good management to name clips. Splitting clips is very fast. But it is not possible to render an effect to a single clip. Only for the whole track. That is a problem. Because I need to render for example an equalizer with different settings to different clips. And normalisation is only possible to 0dB. That is also a problem.

Hey there,

Actually, you can render fx to a clip.

You can put anything you want on it.

Just saw at one of the FB Cakewalk groups someone tried to pay there monthly ( 1st year ) via Cleverbridge .. wouldnt accept or allow or take payment ..

If this is the case and persists then people with less than a years payment are going to end up with a dud useless demo software?

I have been a LOYAL user since '96 (CW Home Studio 5), and to be totally blunt, this is a unacceptable. I am hurt, saddened, angry, and disappointed. All the promises made and Gibson is STILL pushing lifetime updates on their online store. Ridiculous. The only thing we can do as users is band together as one, and reach out on social media and other channels to make some real noise. We need to assist with our voices other possible options for Cakewalk's potential new home (Slate, Microsoft, UAD, Softube, etc). We can't let them do this to us.

20 years with the same DAW, and we shouldn't have to pressed to move onto something different. I will be speaking my voice loud and clear on all of my social media channels and supporting others who feel the same sentiment. We cannot let this go lightly. It sickens me that I signed up for LIFETIME updates only to have them kill Cakewalk a year later!! Damn shame loyal customers don't mean anything to the decision makers. You can follow me and the movement on twitter  : @bigchrizzle. Let's get the #SaveCakewalk hashtag trending!! We need to save our DAW from a premature death.

Gibson, if you had no interest or the means to support Cakewalk and its users long term, why did you buy the company??

I'm fuming!!! #SaveCakewalk!! Gibson you need to act now!

If PC tech advances far enough to obsolete Sonar, it will be time to dedicate the/a DAW PC to Sonar, and move up to a new PC.

Thank you Cakewalk folks for pioneering computer music on the PC, and staying with it at the cutting edge since for so long.  I hope you get to remain just as creative and productive and you get to create the future of music recording.  Looking forward to it.

Yes - there is the possibility to insert an effect to an clip.
But imagine you have 1250 clips from 50 hours of 15 tapes to be rendered with the same EQ, but 10 to 20 different settings - or iZotope RX deNoiser, it is very hard to insert 1250 EQs + 1250 deNoiser with different settings.
And this is the absolute NoGo: It is not possible to send a clip to the iZotope RX Editor. In Studio One you cannot insert a special Waveeditor like in SONAR. Maybe the upcoming version 4 in a year or two.
So I will test Cubase 9.5. At the moment there is no Test Version, because the version is only 7 days old. That has a integration with WaveLab, Batch Edit and can apply effects to itself (I hope the effects from the effect bin - not a clip effect).

That's not surprising considering Cakewalk stopped using Clevebridge some time agao
