I am reinstalling Sonar on a new pc as follows: Studio 8 --> 8.5 Studio --> 8.5 Producer  --> X1 Producer (X2 & X3 not yet installed). I am at the point in the X1 installation to install Dim Pro 1.5.5.13.exe.

Note: I have Dim LE and Dim Pro 1.2.0.214 from previous installs.

I have encountered the same problem as described here: http://forum.cakewalk.com/Dimension-Pro-Won39t-Install-Solved-m3361066.aspx

I run as administrator. The D Pro 1.5 extractor screen comes up. Then the Ready to Install screen appears and runs. The a dialog box appears to Select Language. I click English / OK and then everything disappears.

Nothing is installed. I check the start menu, add / remove programs and the file locations for Dim Pro which the 1.2 version lists a Dim Pro X64.dll in 2 locations: One in C\ProgFiles\Cakewalk\DimPro, the other in C\ProgFiles\Cakewalk\VST Plugins\Dim Pro.

I have done this now a half dozen attempts with the X1 installer, the X2 installer and the previous installer I used on my old machine (this one couldn't find the 1.2 ver even tho I pointed it right to it). No joy.

Further note, my 1.2 version has something wrong with it. If I bring it up in a project, it will not pass audio and causes the project to slow down and freeze, everytime so I can't use it. Other synths are just fine.

I wonder if I should uninstall the 1.2 version and try again?

I think you only need to install 8.5 Producer to get all of the stuff in the 8 series, then skip the Dim Pro from that and just install the latest version of Dim Pro.  No need to install more than one version of Dim Pro, unless you have some projects using the LE.  The latest version should be cumulative of everything before, except for patches.

The same with the Sonar X series, you probably only need to install X3.  There's not much in X1 and X2 that isn't covered in either 8.5 or X3, except for R-Mix.

Thanks for the reply, but what I am saying is nothing happens, I can't install Dim Pro 1.5. I have Dim Pro 1.2 installed and I think it is corrupt, or whatever, it causes sonar to freeze. But no matter how I try to install Dim Pro 1.5 (which I want and used to use a lot), nothing happens as I described.

I appreciate the help!

I guess what I am saying is start over.  Something is conflicting.  I don't know how to fix that except backtrack and remove the possible conflicts, then install just what you actually want and need.  Sorry if I wasn't clear!

So uninstall my Dim Pro 1.2? I think that makes sense since all else appears to be fine? Then just install 1.5.

I'll give that a whirl, thanks much abacab, much appreciated.

Yup, that did it, just had to get rid of that little 1.2 critter. The Sonar X1 Dim Pro install worked, registered  the standalone and then brought it up in 8.5 and played the Atlantis preset. Hot Dog! On the road again.

Thanks abacab for the help!

Now for all the expansion packs, there, here and there and everywhere in my store.

Note I thought this interesting. The uninstall did not uninstall the C\ProgFiles\Cakewalk\DimPro folder with the multisamples folder though it did uninstall one of the two dll's found there (As well as the 2nd dll).

I just left it there and the new install for 1.5 did not duplicate anything in the multisamples folder. Cool!

This is really good news for me :)
