Hi Everyone,
I have been looking around for an instrument definition file for my Yamaha TX802 rack mount synth. As far as I could find, there seems to only be definitions for the original DX7, or the TX7 rack mount version. The TX802 has significant changes from the base unit (it's essentially the rack mount for the DX7 Mk 2 keyboard). Does anyone have either the MK2 definition (which I'd guess would work with) or one for the TX802? Or can you point me to where to download them?

They are oddly not in the Yamaha Classics Instrument definition pack, or any other I could find.

Thanks!

I think the reason you won't find one is because these synths do not have standard patches.  What is more, the patches can be different for every individual DX7MKII.

The Controllers it responds to are also very few by today's standards.....  as follows (from the DX7II user guide)

cc1    Modulation wheel
cc2    Breath control
cc4    Foot control
cc5    Portamento time
cc7    Volume
cc5-31    Continuous slider

cc64    Sustain SW
cc65    Portamento SW
cc66    Sostenuto on/off
cc67    Soft on/off

It would probably be easier to build an instrument definition file using the information from the following website
