save / crash problem / SOLVED (too many audio tracks)

Hi everyone! Recently, I upgraded x2 to x3a. Save command crashes project after vocal edits. (clip envelope to even out volume). I see x3 3.1, x3b, x3c, x3d, x3e are available. Should I install each update and in some particular order? Will the updates address the crashes? Thanks, Ron..
