Weird-can't get Sonar X3 to be the default program for my files

Yes, I know how to right-click the file, go to Cakewalk in my C:drive and choose Sonar X3 as my default program but it won't take. So far I have succeeded in having X1 or Internet Explorer (LOL!) to be default programs but no luck with X3. It used to be fine until I re-installed X1. Any ideas?..
