Deleting a hole - automation not moved as well?

I must admit I'm still a little shaky on how "delete hole" in the Delete Special dialog works. I'm assuming that you should be able to just select a range of the timeline with all tracks selected, and when you delete it everything to the right will shift across accordingly to fill the gap. Grid Not Following Snap Settings

midi won't freeze?

I have 2 tracks A bass and a drum trackI hit freeze and expect it to make a new track with a wave form.It goes thru the motions but then just returns the midi track and is not frozen.What am I missing?..
