Send midi events to effect plugin that support event input - how to?

Studied helpfiles for some hours and find nothing about how to do that. It's a XilsLab LX122 leslie which in properties says it supports event input - so far so good. Possible to delete clip w/o deleting track automation?

So I had a vocal track with send automation and wanted to swap the clip out for a version I had cleaned up in RX3.
