Loud POP when Interface Drivers Engage

OK! You can see what my interface is in my signature, and I need to figure out why everytime I open Sonar 8.5.3 I get an obnoxious POP when it engages the Alesis driver. It didn't used to do this under the exact same conditions, so I'm wondering what I should go check, and/or change...

Should I uninstall X2 before installing X3?

Real time pitch shifting of audio in Sonar?

Other than e.g. using a sampler plugin and applying some pitch-bend modulation, how would you do this in Sonar? Are there any 'native' options other than Cakewalk's Pitch Shifter plug-in? Could Drop Zone be used perhaps? TIA :-)..

Is Sonar X3 Live-ready?

I have not purchased Sonar X3 as of yet (just purchased X2 a month ago) - I'm just wondering if Sonar X3 is pretty much "live-ready", meaning that it doesn't stop the playback for every other thing? I'll be in some concerts soon and it would be useful using on-stage.....
