Confusing automation behaviour

I create a new project, load session drummer, route that to a bus and insert CamelPhat in that bus. Then if I click write enable in the CamelPhat interface and turn it on & off / move controls whilst Sonar is playing, the automation information is generated for that bus, for any and all controls..

Two questions, stems and how to save them in your local project folder?

Reaper has a concept of stems, does Sonar have this same concept? And if so, how do you tell Sonar to keep them in your projects folder structure? I know this is probably a very basic question, but I'm drawing a blank here and when I went to the help file, it didn't seem to have any help on the word..
