record and play levels not the same

when I record a track, I set the levels to just before they clip in the meters but when I play them back, you can barely hear them and the levels in the meters are next to the bottom ... is there a way to make the levels on the meters on record and playback the same ? Both record and playback meters..

How to split a track after automation?

Automation Does Not Move When Cutting & Pasting

Where is the drum map list stored and how can I edit it down to just what I need?

I am fed up of scrolling for miles and miles to use the appropriate drum map. Sonar seems to load hundreds of maps by default.I only ever have need for a few specifically those made for NI Battery and those made for Superior Drummer 2.Everything else can go....so...where is the drum map list stored ..
