Midi playback error

On projects with midi playing back if I hit the stop button, go to different mmeasure, then play, sonar plays the last midi note(s)it was playing previously along with the correct audio/midi at the new measure. I seem to remember that SONAR(using HS 06) enables you to put in notes in a tablature view for guitar tracks. I seem to have lost it and I can't find where it is. Am I nuts or what? THanks for any help..
