Templates in New Project File box frustration

On trying to open a new project I am offered only "Normal" as a template option - the others have disappeared from view. It offers me --Blank Project --, --Play List Set -- and Normal. Nothing else. Figuring out the little nuances are the hardest part (Sonar Power doesn't cover everything). So, how do I get the nice old scrolling horizontal bar that shows the real time now time?
