How to cut/paste a specific range of notes to another track, maintaining the start space ?

For example, I have a midi drum track and I want to extract out just the snare to another track. From the piano roll, I can click on a specific piano key (for the snare note) and all the snare notes shall be selected. I can then proceed to cut and paste it to another track. HELP! no sound

Someone tell me what to check............Sonar x2 windows 7 64 bit M audio 2496 card with current driver. KONTAKT and other programs work so I know its not my audio gear.
