I cant move latency slider in 8.5 pe

I,m also getting drop outs and jittery sounds as I scroll thru tracks during play back any thoughts.... BTW my system has been rock solid for years this has just started happening after installing ez drummer I uninstalled ez drummer and still have the problem TIA Dave..
