Trying to drop files in track view and the file gets put at bar 1801!!!!

oK this has happened a few times now. I try and import a wav file onto a track and it gets put at bar 1801!! This happens with all kinds of files. single hits as well as track stems. WTF is going on. I checked preferences but I couldn't find anything at all... this makes no sense!..
