MIDI reassigning using different port boxes

Can someone help with this issue? I am running Sonar Prod. Expan on a base unit using a MIDIsport 2x4 port box and laptop (for live gigs) using a MIDIsport 8x8 box. Everytime I play a song on the laptop, created on the base unit, it needs me to reassign the ports. Sonar seems to store the MIDI assig..

Refining my method...

Shift midi an octave?

I admit to being a bit bass deaf and I hear better if I record an octave higher than it should be. Is there a quick way to drop an instrument an octave after recording? Lasso and drag the whole track down in PRV?..

UNmuting previous takes?

OK, So I have gone into preferences and made sure the box for "mute previous takes" is not checked and yet it mutes them anyway. This is driving me nuts. Any Ideas?..

32 and 64 bit Questions

I'm taking the plunge with a new computer 64 bit OS WIN 7. I have many old 32 bit plugins that I still want to use. Thus I know I can run Sonar X1 in 32 bit or 64 bit. My main question is where do those dll's go. Do I have to put them in two locations since sometimes I may have to use the 32 bit ver..

How to speed up FREEZING a track?..

So now that Sonar Plus has really become unuseable and unaintained, my Bulk Freeze is also gone.... Does anyone know which variables are the most useful to tweak in order to speed up freezing tracks in X1? (And before anyone asks, I run massive mixes with Slate VCC etc etc, 18 busses, external sends..

Win 8 plunge.......EEK!

Coming this Thursday..... Pc died so have bought a new one with Win 8... (i7, SSD, 32gb RAm etc etc - nice machine) I'll report back.. May the Cyber Lord have mercy upon me, usually I would NEVER have done this without a new service pack AND the Sonar OS patch but hey ho, I can always go back to Win..

Does Sonar X2 work with Windows 8? There is an asterisk on the System Requirements that says it will be coming in a patch later this year. So I really can't upgrade my DAW to Windows 8?
