Can't get "pan" feature to work

I have Sonar X1 Studio and I’m trying to use the “pan” feature (recording newbie). I am on one recorded track of a song, and when I move the pan knob left or right, all it does is decrease the volume of both speakers equally. I have max volume with zero panning. Sonar crashes

If you have a built in soundcard eg Soundblaster as well as an external soundcard ( in my case an octa capture ) I find Sonar crashes continuously unless you disable the internal sound card. Might be obvious to some but hope this helps some newbies out there..

Alesis Fusion 8HD Not Responding to Program Changes

I have a Fusion 8HD that I "drive" with Sonar 8.5.3. I'm having to completely rebuild the .ins instrument def file from scratch. Mackie Emulatio EQ mode

Being an old guy, I rather expected Sonar to have Basic EQ controls (at least 2 bands) on the channel (track) strip. Can't run Sonar & S. Explained at same time SOLVED

As I go through this tutorial, I would like to have Sonar and Sonar Explained side by side so I can go back and forth, trying the various components as they are demonstrated.
