Guitar Tracks 4 and 3rd party drum wav loops

Hello, I have purchased some blues/rock drum samples to include as backing in Guitar Tracks 4 with the VS -20 DAW. NOT UTILIZING USB MIDI AT ALL...

"you have not selected any midi input ports." so i go to, "choose midi ports now" and press "casio usb/midi" as my input.(don't have to worry about outputs.) and no matter WHAT program i'm using, it always goes back to the initial error box!"no midi input ports selected!" it works fine on my boyfrie..

Punch recording

Is there a way to minimize the audible "click" that occurs when using a punch in to change a few notes? I can get the right inflection, tone etc. from the guitar but there always seems to be an abruptness at each end of the punch that is audible from that point on. Tried the crossfade as that seemed..
