powered mixer to interface

Question.....I have an 8 channel powered mixer, Can I mic up a drum kit (multiple mics) through the powered mixer and run a line out into the mic input on my interface and record the drum mix on one track? Is that how you do it with only one mic input on an interface? Thanks, Ken..
