Melodies in music

When you listen to modern music and also some of the submissions in the songs forum, I noticed that there's not much melody in it anymore. For instance yesterday I was listening to some of the tracks from Jean Michel Jarre's Electronica albums and it's mostly just soundscapes, which can be pleasent ..
