Connecting PC > TV

Hi all, wonder if anyone has seen anything like this. I'm running an HDMI cable from my graphics card straight into an HDMI input on the TV in the next room. when I switch over to the correct HDMI channel on the TV, I can see my Windows Desktop perfectly. But, no other program's GUI shows u..
