When All Instruments Leave EXCEPT For The Drums....

Hello Everyone, I seem to have some kind of problem with all my mixes (pre-masters). No matter what I do, when I have the drums just playing a solo part, my kick especially sounds WAY too loud, too much punch, it doesn't sound nice and tidy like when its in the mix. I finally found out about subtractive eqing... All this time I've been cutting the low, but boosting the highs and sweeping the top tenth! Ik, I'm late to the party! Where can I find some tips on using subtractive eq to make my mixing work a bit more in my favor? And any tips and tricks here..

How can I separate original signal and fx left and right?

On an audio track, using a send to an FX bus, I want an instrument's dry sound on the left and either it's delay or reverb effect (and only it's effect) on the right. How can I do that?
