Recording flute and clarinet

I've never recorded flute or clarinet before, but I will be doing that tomorrow. I don't think I'll have a problem finding a good sweet spot, my question is more about equipment. I have a Shure KSM-27 that I will be using for the mic (my only other options are lower quality condensors and dynamics)...

NI Drummer instruments: multi out, or use their onboard mixing?

I'd be interested to know if anyone else just uses the NI Drummer's onboard mixer to mix their drums, instead routing the drums to individual tracks. I'm quite lazy when it comes to setting multi outs (not even sure how to do it in Sonar yet anyway) and have just been using the mixer that's in NI's ..
