making sfz files for Dm Pro

I was looking at several SFZ sounds and the text file with it.What is the right size either in note or time for a wav sample for a good sfz file. Also is there a software out there that can map out a wav file for note placement to help define the regions for a sfz file?
I have Dim Pro and wanted to lean how to make sfz files for it. Thanks for any help. Wyndham

    Wyndham,

the only restriction I know of is not to have your file under 3000 samples long, otherwise Dimpro (and Rapture) will turn it into a wavetable (not the PPG kind).  I don't think there is a size limit, tho I'm probably wrong.

lots of good info on DimPro and SFZ, including the text coding.  I do wish there was a generic SFZ graphical editor, too.  But from what I understand, SFZ is (or was) a growing standard, with new stuff added w/ each of René's synths.

Thanks for the links. It seems that sample first then define the region of those samples in the sfz file.
I have DL'ed Sfzed and it does a lot of the editing easier than note pad or other word processors Thanks Wyndham
