From the mix view I highlight the clip that I want to add an effect to and go to (I think it's) the Process Menu and then audio effects. They shouldn't be greyed out. Or in the track view you can insert an effect by, like you said, right clicking. That will give the entire track that effect, not just a clip segment that you highlight.

What effects have you tried? Maybe you're picking effects where the default setting doesn't really colour the original sound all that much.

Are you using GTP3??? If you are you don't need to record anything first. Just right click on the effects bin in the mix view. It's the blue box on every track in between "trim" and "aux 1". You don't need to highlight any clip or record anything first. If you are trying to hear it with effects in real time then you need to turn the input monitor on for that track while you have some effects loaded.

Thats only if you have a computer from 1995 running windows 98 with an onboard sound card like pistolpete, and then waste time crying online not listening to what anyone with more intelligence than himself.

Funny, I did have a 1995 machine with Win98 and there was no latency with GT2.
Gee, that tells me that the software has a problem.....

    Billy,
The default setting on the chorus is probably just as Montezuma said. Did you try different settings?
What kind of noise? Feedback? Are you using a built-in sound card? Make sure the recording input is set to line in or mic, whichever you are using, not what-u-hear or stereo mix(or what ever it may be labeled on your system) This is controlled in the Windows mixer.
