matrix view does not work

I was really excited to try out the matrix view in sonar 8.5, but for some reason it doesn't work.  Everything else in sonar works fine.  But when i open up the matrix view and try to play a cell, it randomly cuts in and out.  If it's midi data, it will often miss midi on/off messages completely, and audio starts and stops randomly.

I'm on windows vista 64 bit with a tascam us-1641 interface.  Thanks in advance for any help!

Hmmmm . . . . .  what's your rig? The matrix is pretty straight forward - perhaps yoy are experiencing drop outs from something.

pretty much just the computer and interface.  I have a couple keyboards but that wouldn't affect it, because the audio and midi drop out, even if i make the midi in the piano roll editor.  And I never experience drop outs when it's in the normal view, only when i try to run the matrix view.

Are you using midi loops (or have you tried stock midi loops?) Same with audio - are you using groove clips or acidized loops?

Try triggering some pre-made loops just to get used to using the matrix.  If these will not work (same problems) then we can look deeper.  I always worry a little about self made loops while learning the interface (not that they shouldn't work!)

ok i just tried some midi loops i found in sample content.  Same issue.  It seems like when the midi events are too close together it skips.  Like if it's just a bunch of quarter notes one after another it's usually not as bad as if it's overlapping eighth or sixteenth notes

Try increasing the value of MIDI Prepare Using <value> Millisecond Buffers under Options > Project > MIDI tab. The default should be 500. If it's less tan that, start there, and increase in increments of a 100 milliseconds up to maybe 1000 to see if that will resolve it.

This is the most common cause of dropped MIDI notes, whether the Matrix is involved or not.
