Sing through a megaphone...Sorry couldn't resist....There must be a plug in somewhere that you could tweak

Jadester you can get the same effect by pulling the lows out of the track with an EQ. Try fiddling around with a 3 band EQ till you get the sound you're looking for. BTW, If you have Line 6 GearBox there's and effect called low fi you can use also.

    Hi there Jade

I can't seem to find any free standalone ones at the moment but I'll check to see if any of my VST's have a preset that might help.

I've found a dedicated VST on sale here - http://www.rocksonics.com/MasteringPlugs.htm it's just $5 - if you plan on using it a fair bit that seems pretty reasonable.

    Jade,

I'm with Doc on this one, just use EQ. Like he said, cut the lows. You may have to boost the low mids to find the sound your looking for. Just play around with it until you get what you want.

When I was a kid we had to use Portastudios, uphill! both ways!!

Jade, I think I've found something for you.

Click on this link - http://www.concretefx.com/DownloadFree.htm and download QAmp

It's got some presets but the Default setting produces a nice megaphone sound.

    Update...

Jade, I've been doing a bit more experimenting!

I've used a bit of singing by my mate SidStrummer to let you hear the results:

Click this link for the audio: MEGAPHONE EFFECT TEST

    * The first passage is exacltly as it was recorded, with just a little compression and reverb.

    * The second passage has the QAmp, set to the default setting, in the FX bin (as in my previous post)

    * The final passage has the QAmp and the excellent free VST T-Sledge in the FX bin; the QAmp is still on default setting, the T-Sledge is set to the Trash X preset.

To download the T-Sledge, click this link: http://rekkerd.org/sweetboy-vst/
