mic or line in, studio monitors from interface

my sr technology monitors have xlr with mic underneath and 1/4 jack with line in under.wich should i use coming from my roland quad interface. please help it seems simple but i just carnt get an answer anywere i want to know if its wrong going into mic when its not a microphone im using and is it wrong to be amplifying the sound like it is a microphone. sorry ive made this simple question harder just egnore the later.

    I like to use the XLR with a TRS from the interface. No noise issues doing it that way on my setup. It just depends on your setup.  If you can use XLR/analog ins, thats what Id recommend
