midi connection settings

does anyone know how to connect a boss br-1180
to cakewalk with a roland xv2020 sound module
i cannot seem to get any settings to activate my br1180

any help cheers

    I think it would be helpful if you stated what you are trying to do with the 1180 and 2020.
    How are the midi connections made for the 1180, 2020 and PC?
    What midi interfaces do you have for the PC?
