You don't really need seperate midi channels if you are going to record the sounds coming from the Boss.  What you need are individual audio outs sent from the Boss to indivdual audio ins on your sound card.
You may want to consider Session Drummer in Sonar instead, or use the drum sounds that come in the TTS-1 synth.  That way, you don't need to bring midi in and out, nor will you need multiple audio inputs.

I also have the DR-770! Great little machine! When I did use it with Sonar, I built up the tracks using a drum map then recorded the audio onto a stereo audio track in Sonar. That way I could compress it, add some reverb, EQ etc. Just like Stone House suggested.

Recently though I either use Session Drummer or even more recently, EZdrummer which is a great deal!

Also, reviewing your question, I should add that it isn't quite clear what you are trying to accomplish.
If you are trying to record separate midi tracks in Sonar from the Boss, it may best be accomplished by recording onto one track, then using a cal script to split the notes to separate tracks.

i think what he wants to do is record the drums on seperate tracks.and from what hes told me before he is using studio instruments as his drum source and his boos as his midi source.its not possible to do what session drummer 3 does but you could record one track at a time.using mtc and midi out, time consuming but will do the job.not sure if there still selling the upgrade for just session drummer alone but its well worth it.

Lyra, once you get your drum controller hooked up for playing/recording MIDI in Sonar, I suggest you keep it straight forward and record on one MIDI track.  It's much less confusing, plus you'll be able to actually play your kit in a natural all-at-once way.  If you need to do some editing, it's very clear in the Piano Roll View which note each part of the kit is assigned to.  It's the audio being driven by the MIDI that you want split into multiple tracks, so each part of the kit is on a separate track.  That's a simple matter of adding audio tracks and having them connected to the one MIDI track.
