midi mes

when i audition drums in the browser(as far as I've got at present) I get piano sounds. The right sounds come out in session drummer 3.
I dare say there are more midi assignment problems. i just dont know how to fix them. if i play the sounds using windows media player i get the same thing so i'm guessing  a codec or something is missing.

    Welcome to the forum!

    What software are you using?
What drums are you auditioning in the browser?
You can hear SD3 sounds only if SD3 is inserted.
Have you inserted SD3 as a softsynth in a project or are you using it as standalone?
(Actually, I don't even know if SD3 can be used standalone.)

Hard to say if a codec is missing (I don't think so) without knowing anything about what you're doing.
Have you read the manual and done the tutorial about using soft synths (if you're using SD3 as a soft synth)?
I simply don't understand what WMP has got to do with SD3.

Please try to give some kind of a description of what you are trying to accomplish and how you are trying to do it.

What have you inserted where, what kind of tracks you have and what are their inputs and outputs, do you have your E-MU as the recording and playback timing master (Options dialogue), how are you feeding the MIDI (keyboard, mouse or electric drums), what drivers are you using (ASIO is the most recommendable)...

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

    Hi
    I' using 64-vista busines
    Sonar X1 producer
    ASIO drivers E-MU
The 1616 is the playback and timing master
    SD3 is installed  as softsynth
i'm lust looking for loops etc through the browser (just click the file to here it before double clicking it to insret in to a project as on tutorial video)
if you right click on a file (audio) the windows option dropdown menu offers play
if i click play the default media player will play content
i think wmp is trying to play the midi loops instead if SD3
if i load the same loop into SD3 via New program on the SD£ interface it works fine
but it is a very slow way to check out what i want to use

Is SD3 the one you have just left of the browser, or just for the project. There is a place just left of the folders, that should SD3 there as well, and if there are more than one synth down there, make sure SD3 is highlighted. I get the synth rack, and media browser backwards sometimes as far what is controlling what. But it should be while in Media browser, starting from left SD3, then whatever you are browsing for, and then in the final column the actual loop, or sample. Good luck!

let me try. when you make your midi file try to right click on the piano keys then choose note names so that instead of piano keys showing up, you'll see the drum names. synth out to session drummer. save midi. play in wmp. i'm not sure. i'll try when i get home.
